Labiaplastyboston.com: Plastic Surgery Website Focuses on Female Genital Aesthetics

Christine A. Hamori, MD, FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been in private practice for 15 years on Boston’s South Shore, has launched a new website dedicated solely to female genital aesthetic surgery and vaginal rejuvenation treatments. Labiaplastyboston.com is a spin-off of her general practice website (christinehamori.com).

Dr. Hamori, who has performed more than 400 labial surgeries has developed special expertise in labial surgeries and has lectured internationally and in the US to educate her peers at plastic surgery conferences. A popular course that she has been teaching to other surgeons for the last 10 years is "Labiaplasty and Beyond” in which she describes anatomy, surgical techniques and ways to avoid and treat complications of labia surgeries, which include labia majora reductions and clitoral hood reductions in addition to labiaplasty — also called labia minora reduction.

"There is a lot of conflicting information available online," said Hamori. "I wanted to create a discreet place where women can come and understand their options." Patients seeking these surgeries come to Dr. Hamori’s practice on Boston’s South Shore from all over the world.

"It’s really about helping a woman feel better about herself. There is no ‘normal' in genital size,” said Dr. Hamori. She attributes the increase in popularity of the procedure to several trends. “Young women now tend to remove their pubic hair by either shaving or waxing. This trend combined with the popularity of form-fitting clothing for workouts or the beach or the bedroom has caused women to become more aware of their appearance, said Hamori. "They want everything down there to be sleek, pretty and youthful with nothing protruding.”

CoolSculpt by Zeltiq Introduced on Boston's South Shore

Dr. Christine Hamori, a plastic surgeon on Boston's South Shore, is pleased to announce that CoolSculpting from Zeltiq, a new FDA-approved, non-invasive procedure for fat reduction, is now available at her practice in Duxbury, MA on Boston's South Shore. CoolSculpting from Zeltiq uses an innovative method of precisely controlled cooling to help reduce unsightly fat bulges that do not respond to diet and exercise.

The science behind the Coolsculpting procedure is called Cryolipolysis, which was developed by dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Their research showed that fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cold than other surrounding tissues, and that fat cells can be safely eliminated without harming the overlying skin. This discovery led to the development of the non-invasive Zeltiq procedure.

According to Dr. Hamori, “The new treatment is best suited for relatively fit persons who seek spot reduction for specific trouble areas of fat, but who do not want a surgical invasive procedure."

Dr. Hamori also cautioned that the treatment is not intended for weight reduction, and it is not intended to replace other invasive procedures, like traditional liposuction, for those seeking for more a pronounced result in fat reduction.

For more information, see Dr. Hamori's web page on Zeltiq.

Sculptra, Now FDA Approved for Facial Cosmetic Use, Offered by Christine Hamori, MD, on Boston's South Shore

BOSTON — Dr. Christine A. Hamori, board-certified plastic surgeon, is pleased to announce the availability of Sculptra® Aesthetic, an FDA-approved injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Also known as "poly-L-lactic acid," it is synthetic, and biocompatible (does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body).

Sculptra Aesthetic is targeted for use in:
• Deep folds between the nose and the mouth, or, smile lines
• Lines framing your mouth (marionette lines)
• Chin wrinkles.

According to Dr. Hamori, who treats patients in her Duxbury, Massachusetts, surgical practice on Boston's South Shore, "Sculptra may take several treatments, and results happen slowly over several months. Awaiting Landmark Settlement in Big Dig Wrongful Death Case

Followers of the law are awaiting news on a landmark settlement in the Big Dig ceiling collapse case involving the wrongful death case of Milena Del Valle. Lawyers argue that the limit on punitive damages is not strict and that the punishment has to be enormous for the companies involved to suffer significant pain, according to a Boston Globe report: Lawyers eye huge Big Dig settlement.

The article states:
Punitive damages in the hundreds of millions would be unprecedented in Massachusetts, where large jury awards are rare. In one of the biggest cases ever, a Suffolk County jury in 2000 awarded $27.5 million to the estate of a Russian immigrant who suffocated beneath a Green Line trolley as an MBTA rescue effort disintegrated into "a tragedy of errors." A judge later reduced the penalty to $1 million, arguing that the MBTA was only careless and did not intend to harm the man.
Renowned Boston medical malpractice lawyer Andrew Meyer was asked to comment in the article. He says: "There haven't been large punitive damage awards in Massachusetts," but acknowledged that could surely change if there is the ability to prove "gross negligence." There is a great video clip of Meyer, discussing this topic on his law firm's web site. It is a partial clip of his appearance on Greater Boston with Emily Rooney. Check it out for more about the ins and outs of how such a settlement might work.
