This week, Massachussetts Lawyers Weekly ran an article listing the top verdicts and settlements of 2007. Under settlements, one firm, Lubin & Meyer, took 3 of the 5 top spots on the list. The medical malpractice law firm shows these top successes so far for 2007 in Massachusetts:
$5 million settlement for alleged failure to treat fetal distress resulting in baby's brain damage.
$4.9 milllion settlement for newborn sustaining cerebral palsy
$3 million for patient diagnosed with brain damage following surgery

Leading the settlements list was a case involving Big Dig worker's comp insurer AIG not returning excess profits to the state ($26 million plus interest), and a human services provider management company charging improper costs under state contracts ($7.5 million).
